Fu Shan, (1607-1684) warned “to rely on model scripts is to fall into pettiness” and triggered the seventeenth century reinvention of one thousand and three hundred years of legacy and convention in Chinese calligraphy.

Set your mind free, explore, break the rules, liberate the brush and follow the universe’s ceaseless urge to transform the old into the new. Merge boldness with elegance. Reject formality. Yet always with discipline, unrelenting practice and study. Go back in time but keep moving forward.
